It seems that a good deal on a 2019 is in the range of $10,000 to $12,500 OTD depending on the model. I’m interested in a 2020 and it’s difficult to pay full price when the 2021s are the same price, even if they are the same except for colors. The tenere is far heavier than the Africa twin. Offroad id definitely pick the lighter of the two. If you plan on a lot of long journey the yamaha would be less maintenance being shaft drive and more comfortable i think. I like both bikes but I feel they play two different roles. If you plan on a lot of offroad I'd look for something lighter

The AT is a decent sport touring bike, but it kind of depends on how sporty you want to get on the pavement. The 21" front limits feel and grip. At a reasonable pace, things are good. On dirt roads or dirt trails, the AT is great for its size. Surprisingly good.
Thankfully, the folks at Consumer Reports have compiled a motorcycle reliability study, gathering information from more than 11,000 riders, sharing their experiences on more than 12,000 motorcycles purchased new between 2008 and 2014. With this data, CR adjusted for mileage ridden over a 12-month span and estimated failure rates. I have an Africa Twin now (3 years into ownership) and used to have the 600cc version of the Transalp. They are both great bikes, a bit old worlde technology now but very, very reliable. Transalp is very smooth, great seat and riding position but the suspension is not so great if you ride it off tarmac.
In the field if this is suspected to happen on a LiFePO4 outfitted Africa Twin, it might be possible to charge recover with the help of another 12V battery (albeit no current limit protection), or a very high end charger that has the "power supply functionality" built in for LiFePO4 batteries. Riding is good therapy.
Honda Africa Twin Price: $14,499 Onwards. If Honda managed to make them solid and reliable back then, there’s no reason why they’d stop doing that now. Naturally, then, the Honda Africa
It may not be all the good news many had hoped for, but at least fans of the Africa Twin can rest assured knowing that Honda is making progress toward building a reliable, fairly light-weight, low-maintenance, Adventure Bike with serious off-road intentions (and hopefully good highway manners).
