While the stretched 787-9 beats out 777-200,-200ER, and -300 Classics with an impressive fuel range of 14,010 km, this isn’t enough to match 777-200LR’s range level. In terms of speed, Boeing 787 cruises slightly faster than its predecessor, 777.
The 777-200 is a couple of tons lighter than the 777-200ER. With a lower MTOW, the 777-200 has lower airport and navigation fees. It also requires less-powerful engines (so lower fuel burn) and was cheaper (since higher MTOWs command higher prices).
